WACO, Texas - Melissa Hollowell struck out 16 batters to lead No. 1 ranked Arizona to a 7-0 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday morning at the Baylor Compass Bank Invitational.
Hollowell (7-0) allowed only two base runners the entire game - a fifth inning wild pitch on a third strike to Brittany Stanley and a seventh inning hit batsman - as Arizona improved to 12-0 on the young season.
The morning didn't start out well for Tech (8-10) as a first inning error led to three unearned runs as Arizona jumped out on top 4-0 after the first frame.
The Wildcats added one run in the second inning and two more in the fifth to win their third straight game at the tournament. Hollowell also pitched a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Sam Houston State on Friday.
Tech senior Lindsey Meadows (5-7) was tagged with the loss, allowing seven runs - four earned - on 13 hits while striking out four in six innings of action.
Inclement weather in the Waco area has forced the start of the rest of Saturday's games to be pushed back until at least 3 p.m. at which time officials will decide whether playing conditions will allow for the tournament to resume or be postponed until Sunday.
Tech is scheduled to face Birmingham Southern today before participating in championship play on Sunday.
