RUSTON, La. - Coming off Clara Vido's double-double performance, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team (9-15, 0-7 WAC) looks to defeat New Mexico State (17-5, 6-1 WAC) in its final home game in October, on Saturday October 22 at 7 p.m.
Sophomore Clara Vido recorded her ninth double-double on Wednesday, leading the Lady Techsters with 11 kills and 15 digs. Senior Biana Bin recorded 17 assists against Northwestern St., giving her 3,263 for her career. Juniors Stephany Salas and Nataliya Panova also recorded double digit digs with 12 and 13 respectively Wednesday. Emily Maher recorded four blocks.
On the season, Bin has recorded 633 assists, averaging 7.81/game on the season, eighth among WAC athletes. Salas averages 4.62 digs/game, good for first among all WAC athletes. After Wednesday's performance, Vido leads the Lady Techsters with 199 kills on the season. She has also recorded 221 digs, second most among Tech players. Sophomore Caitlin Germany leads Louisiana Tech with 52 blocks.
New Mexico State comes in with a 6-1 conference record; good for second, behind only nationally-ranked Hawai'i. The Aggies are led by Meredith Hays and Jennah DeVries. In WAC play, Hays averages 4.62 kills/game, while DeVries averages 11.12 assists/game, which puts both at the top of their respective categories.
