RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech announced Tuesday that Clay Lewis is the football program's new equipment manager.
Lewis has been serving as the interim equipment manager since Jeff Springer left Louisiana Tech to take a similar job at Alabama. He joined the Bulldogs program in 2010, bringing with him experience on many levels.
"I am excited to have Clay move into the head equipment manager's position here," said head coach Sonny Dykes. "He more than proved himself during spring practice and I look forward to him continuing the standard of excellence that has been put in place in our equipment room."
Lewis returned to his home state after spending a year as the assistant equipment manager at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. Prior to that, he was a student equipment manager at Louisiana-Monroe, where he earned in bachelor's degree in 2009. Lewis and his wife, Deanna, currently reside in Monroe.
His hiring is pending the approval of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System.
