RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech volleyball squad (3-16, 0-7 WAC) fell in straight sets to the Bobcats of Texas State by a score of 21-25, 24-26, 16-25 Saturday afternoon in San Marcos, Texas after being out-hit by the home team .128 to .265.
Texas State (9-9, 4-3 WAC) held the Lady Techsters to 36 kills and forced 22 errors in the conference match to complete the team's two-game road stretch.
"Our players played much better today," head coach Adriano de Souza said. "We had many chances in the first two sets, but the choices we made helped out our opponent more than us in clutch moments. I am proud of their effort today. I am sure the players are looking forward for next week's practice and to play at home again."
The Techsters were paced offensively by junior Clara Vido and freshman Dalane Guidry, as well as junior Caitlin Germany. Germany notched six kills, while Vido led the team with 13 and Guidry totaled six kills against the Bobcats.
Sophomore Maria Coelho added 25 assists and four blocks for the Techsters. This marks the sixth time Coelho has had four or more blocks in a single match this season. Senior Stephany Salas also recorded 16 digs against Texas State.
With the loss, Texas State now holds a 2-4 record against the Lady Techsters in head-to-head matches.
Tech will return to action in a two-game home stand beginning at 7 p.m. p.m. Oct. 11 as the team will face off against conference newcomer Seattle in the Thomas Assembly Center. The team will then turn around and play Idaho at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 in a match that was originally scheduled for Saturday night.
