HAMMOND, La. - Louisiana Tech will play its only game of the week when the Lady Techster softball team travels to face Southeastern Louisiana in a non-conference contest Wednesday at 4 p.m. at North Oak Park.
Tech (14-25, 5-9 C-USA) is coming off a split in its rain-shortened two-game series at North Texas last weekend as the Lady Techsters have now won five of their last eight Conference USA games. Southeastern Louisiana (14-18) is coming off a doubleheader split against SEC foe Ole Miss Monday night and has won five of its last six games after snapping a nine-game losing streak.
The Lady Techsters have a light week of action with Wednesday night's contest in Hammond being the only game on the schedule. Tech has a bye weekend in C-USA play.
Tech's recent success stems from much-improved play defensively. After committing 58 errors in its first 33 games of the season, the Lady Techsters have gone six straight games without an error - the longest streak since 2005.
The Lady Techsters have also been riding solid efforts in the circle by both Pauline Tufi and Bianca Duran. Tufi is 10-7 on the season with a 3.25 earned run average after picking up a win in a 3-2 complete-game effort against North Texas this past weekend. She is 3-1 in her last four appearances while allowing only 15 hits in 24 innings of work. Duran enters the game with a 4-15 record and a 3.81 ERA but has also pitched more consistently over her last few outings.
Offensively, Kristen Miles (.337, 24 runs, 5-6 SB), Janine Godwin (.289, 6 doubles, 15 runs), Duran (.264, 9 doubles, 19 RBI), Hailey Winter (.260, 2 HR, 11 RBI), Tufi (.259, 8 doubles, 21 RBI) and Anna Cross (.237, 2 HR, 19 RBI) are Tech's top threats at the plate.
Southeastern Louisiana relies on four different arms in the circle, led by Spencer Adkinson (4-3, 2.72 ERA), Taylor Bishop (4-6, 3.43 ERA), Tori Stamper (4-4, 5.52 ERA), and Rachael Hellyer (1-5, 5.61 ERA).
Offensively, Amanda Livaudis (.409, 5 RBI), Katie Lacour (.380, 21 runs), Vanessa Eng (.315, 6 RBI), Megan Moore (.304, 7 HR, 28 RBI), Megan McCollum (.298, 13 RBI), and Amber Sather (.286, 4 HR, 21 RBI).
Tech leads the all-time series against Southeastern Louisiana 44-15, although the Lions have won three straight.
