RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head football coach Skip Holtz announced Monday that quarterback Taylor Burch has been added to the team roster.
Burch was a member of the football team for two seasons in 2010 and 2011 before choosing to focus on baseball full-time the last two years. With his baseball eligibility exhausted, Burch has one final season of football eligibility remaining and will rejoin the program.
In 2011, Burch served as the holder on special teams and completed a 12-yard pass to Matt Broha on a 4th-and-4 fake field goal against Houston.
As a four-year member of the Louisiana Tech baseball team, Burch hit .227 in 148 games played in his career with 83 hits, 47 runs scored and 35 RBI. He hit a career-best four hits at Grambling on March 25, 2014 and finished his final baseball season tied for seventh in the nation in outfield assists (8).
The addition of Burch gives the Bulldogs five quarterbacks on the roster entering the 2014 season with Ryan Higgins the lone signal caller having started a Division I game.
Louisiana Tech reports for fall camp on Sunday, Aug. 3.
