Louisiana Tech wrapped up a weekend's worth of matches at the Big Daddy's Invitational as the Lady Techsters dropped their final contest of the weekend to UT Arlington, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-18), at Memorial Gym.
LA Tech (2-4) matched UT Arlington point for point in the first two sets, but a late boost in each set by UT Arlington, a team that improved to 7-1 on the season with the win, helped the Mavericks gain the advantage over the Lady Techsters. UTA out-hit Tech .186 to .107 in the three-set sweep, while LA Tech totaled 32 kills compared to 39 by the Mavericks.

LA Tech held the Mavericks to a .067 team hitting percentage in the second, but failed to improve offensively with a .059 attacking percentage for themselves.
LA Tech totaled 13 kills in the third set, the most successful attacks of the three sets, but had seven attack errors as the team failed to complete a comeback and faltered, 25-18, thanks to 14 kills and a .312 hitting percentage by UT Arlington in the set.
LA Tech's Rebecca Redgen led the team once again with 10 kills and two blocks in the match with a total of 11.0 points versus the Mavericks, while Dalane Guidry picked right back up where she left off yesterday as she notched eight kills to go along with two blocks.
Sophomore Hannah Wright led LA Tech with a .556 attacking percentage after successfully totaling five kills in nine attempts with no errors in the match. Brooke Short led the team with 24 assists and two service aces, while Jacie McClure led her teammates with 10 digs on the afternoon.
UT Arlington was led by Qiana Canete, who recorded a double-double with 10 kills, 11 digs and a block to help lead the Mavericks to victory. Ashley Bennett had one of two UTA service aces, while totaling a team-high four blocks versus the Lady Techsters. LA Tech recorded three total blocks in the match compared to seven by UTA.
The Lady Techsters now return home to gear up for next weekend's home opener as the team will host the Louisiana Tech Invitational at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston. LA Tech will return to action at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 as they face off against UTPA.
