@LATechFB Arrives in the Big Easy Ahead of R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

Dec. 16, 2015

NEW ORLEANS - A combination of beads and jazz fittingly greeted Skip Holtz and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon when the team arrived in the Big Easy ahead of Saturday's R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl opposite Arkansas State.

After preparing on the team's home turf at Joe Aillet Stadium for the past few weeks, LA Tech arrived at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside around 4 p.m. Wednesday following a two-hour practice at the New Orleans Saints practice facility in Metairie earlier in the day. A rush of players, coaches and support staff - all donning Mardi Gras-style beads - picked up their room keys in the hotel lobby and officially kicked off bowl week for the Bulldogs.

LA Tech will face Arkansas State at 8 p.m. CT Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, which will mark the program's sixth postseason bowl since it joined the Football Bowl Subdivision ranks in 1989 and just the second time in school history the Bulldogs have appeared in back-to-back bowl games.

"We are really excited to be here. It is great to be in the city of New Orleans," Holtz said as he recapped the Bulldogs' first day in New Orleans in the lobby of the Hilton Riverside. "The trip has been great. We got up this morning and left Ruston at 7 a.m. Everyone got on the bus, crashed and watched a couple movies. We got here, changed clothes and came out to practice and we have a function tonight. It is exciting."

The team is set to attend a New Orleans Bowl student-athlete party, while select members of the team are scheduled to attend a New Orleans Bowl media luncheon while also participating in a community outreach project Thursday afternoon prior to the Bulldogs' second practice since arriving Wednesday.

Tickets for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl still remain on sale from the LA Tech Ticket Office. Louisiana Tech has sold out of its allotment of the $60 price range and has $40 price level tickets currently on sale.
