RUSTON - Louisiana Tech makes the short trip to Natchitoches to take on in-state foe Northwestern State on Friday with first serve set for 1 p.m. at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Tennis Complex.
LA Tech (0-5) is still looking to notch its first win of the spring season, but head coach Chad Camper and the Lady Techsters are confident that the team is improving and the best is yet to come.
"We have made improvements in all areas, some positions more than others," Camper said as the squad has fought through a difficult schedule. "We are learning what it takes to be a nationally ranked team.
"The players have been very positive about our upcoming matches and the future of the season. They know our best tennis is ahead of us."
Alexandra Starkova and Jazmin Britos continue to lead the team in singles with both players coming off victories against nationally-ranked opponents at Georgia State.
Despite the five team losses, the duo has combined to record a 7-3 mark.
They were also an integral part in LA Tech defeating NSU (0-2) last season in a 7-0 shutout in Ruston which ended the Lady Demons 11-match winning streak.
"This will be a much closer match," Camper said. "Northwestern State has some great freshmen this season and they are very good at the top of the lineup. We expect a tough match."
NSU will also be looking for its first victory of the dual season having lost to LSU and ULM.
