RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will begin its spring golf season Monday when the Bulldogs tee off at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
This begins the spring season for Louisiana Tech in the Bulldogs' first action since concluding the fall season last October by hosting the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
The Bulldogs will face players from Baylor, Central Arkansas, Denver, Houston Baptist, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Northern Colorado, defending champion Oklahoma, Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Tulsa, UTSA and Wichita State in the two-day 54-hole tournament.
Junior Victor Lange ended the fall season by finishing second at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate after forcing a playoff round with North Texas' Juan Munoz. After Munoz set a tournament record with a 9-under-par 63 in the second round, Lange topped that with a 10-under-par 62 in the final round to force the playoff.
Over the course of the fall season, Lange averaged a 71.3 score per round in the four tournaments with six rounds at par or better and two rounds placing in the top five.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The final round is slated for the following day with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
