LA Tech Game Notes
RUSTON, La. - A busy week awaits the Bulldogs as Louisiana Tech gears up to play five games in a span of six days with LA Tech set to wrap up an eight-game home stretch Tuesday when the Diamond 'Dogs play hosts to McNeese State in midweek action at 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.
The Bulldogs will then hit the road for four straight games beginning with a Wednesday night contest against the 14th-ranked UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at 6 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field. LA Tech's game at UL-L will be broadcast live on ESPN3 on WatchESPN.com and myAcadianaTV in the Lafayette area.
LA Tech has won five of their last six heading into the contest with Tuesday's game serving as a rematch from two weeks ago when McNeese State edged the Bulldogs, 3-1, in Lake Charles. The Bulldogs enter the week with a 23-13 overall record, which is the program's best record through 36 games since the 2006 season.
McNeese State heads to Ruston with a 23-14 record and 9-5 mark in road games this season. The Cowboys are coming off series loss against Southeastern Louisiana last weekend, but McNeese ended the weekend on a positive note with a 7-6 win over the Lions to salvage the series.
LA Tech and UL-L will play for the second time Wednesday in a rematch of a game from earlier in the campaign in Ruston that the Bulldogs won, 6-2, over the Ragin' Cajuns who were ranked as high as sixth nationally at the time. UL-Lafayette comes into the week with an overall record of 27-13 and is fresh off a series victory over Texas State last weekend in Lafayette. The Cajuns are scheduled to face off against No. 14 Southern Miss Tuesday night in Hattiesburg before hosting the Bulldogs Wednesday.
As a team, LA Tech is hitting .289 on the season with 67 doubles, 14 triples and 23 home runs, while Jonathan and Jordan Washam continue to lead the charge with the twin brothers batting .397 and .337, respectively, entering the two midweek contests. Both Cody Daigle and Chase Lunceford are tied for the team lead with five home runs and 25 RBI's each.
The Bulldogs will send right-hander Braden Bristo to the mound Tuesday against McNeese State in what will be the junior's second appearance against the Cowboys this season. Two weeks ago, Bristo pitched five innings in Lake Charles where he gave up just one earned run on three hits and four strikeouts. McNeese will start left-hander Austin Sanders who is 3-2 on the year with a 4.67 ERA in 27 innings pitched. LA Tech and ULL have yet to name starters for Wednesday night's game in Lafayette.
