COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – It's another star-studded field this weekend as Louisiana Tech will travel to Tennessee to compete in the Intercollegiate at the Grove hosted by Middle Tennessee at The Grove Club (par 72/ 7,368 yards).
Head coach Matt Terry
and Co. will be among a field that includes Charleston, Cincinnati, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Dakota State and South Florida at the 54-hole, 3-day event. Action begins Sunday at 8 a.m. with the first round followed by 18 holes on both Monday and Tuesday mornings.
The Bulldogs will be represented at the event by Ryan Alford
, James Swash
, Trey Poteet
, Judd Tilson
and Blake Blaser
while Nick Daniel
will compete as an individual.
Terry said he hopes to see his young group take some steps forward from their first two events of the year.
"We have to clean up some silly mistakes," said Terry. "We have had some good meetings about doing better with that and handling adversity when it hits during the course of the day. If we can continue to work on that and clean up the little things, than I expect we will play better this week."
Swash and Blaser, both true freshmen, led the Bulldogs in their last tournament, tying for 27th
(out of 87) at the Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by UAB. Through two events, Swash leads the Bulldogs with a 72.67 scoring average followed closely by Blaser (73.67) and Alford (73.83).
Georgia Tech (not competing this year) captured last year's team title at the Intercollegiate at the Grove while Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry is the reigning two-time individual champion (2016, 2017).
