RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech Track and Field is set to open the outdoor season this weekend as the men and women travel to Lafayette, Louisiana, to compete in the Ragin' Cajuns Classic beginning Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
This weekend's outdoor season opener, which is hosted by UL-Lafayette, will be held at the Cajuns Track and Soccer Facility in Lafayette, Louisiana. The two-day meet begins at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon with the pole vault, javelin and hammer throw, while the majority of events are scheduled to take place throughout the day on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
LA Tech will compete in a field of 15 teams this weekend in Lafayette, including Alcorn State, Louisiana College, ULM, LSU, Loyola (N.O.), McNeese, New Orleans, Nicholls, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Southern Arkansas, Tulane and Xavier (N.O.).
This weekend, LA Tech will compete in a combined 27 different field and running events with 13 scheduled for the men and 14 events for the women. The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will have a total of 46 student-athletes competing in the outdoor meet this weekend, while 24 of those are newcomers in 2018.
