RUSTON, La. –
The Louisiana Tech volleyball team will conclude a stretch of four consecutive home matches this Sunday, hosting league foe Marshall at 1 p.m. from the Thomas Assembly Center.
The Lady Techsters (6-11, 1-1; C-USA) will be looking to close a strong stretch of recent play, having won five of their last nine matches. Tech is 2-2 at home this season and is 1-1 at the Thomas Assembly Center in league action.
Continuing to lead Tech's offense this season is junior Kaitlyn Adams
, who has registered a team-high 166 kills, while averaging 3.07 kills per set. Junior Madeline Davis
is close on her heels, having put up some big number from both the offensive and defensive sides of the net recently. Davis is averaging 2.17 kills per set (137 kills for the season) and is leading the team with a .325 hitting percentage. That mark ranks eighth best among all Conference USA leaders.
As a team, Tech continues to impress from the defensive side of things, ranking second in the league in digs per set (16.10) and has held its opponents to a combined .194 hitting percentage – good for the fourth lowest mark among all C-USA teams.
Marshall (7-10, 0-3; C-USA) enters Sunday's contest having dropped each of its first three league matches on the season – most recently falling 3-0 to UAB on Friday evening.
As a team among fellow C-USA teams, Marshall ranks 10th
in hitting percentage (.173), 10th
in opponent hitting percentage (.214), eighth in assists per set (11.62), eighth in kills per set (12.43), 13th
in blocks per set (1.49), sixth in service aces per set (1.29) and third in digs per set (15.98).
Offensively, the Herd are led by Clara Debell, who ranks second in the league, averaging 4.26 kills per set – tallying a team-best 247 kills on the season.
Following Sunday's matchup, the Lady Techsters will hit the road, playing seven of their eight matches in October on the road – all in league play.
