LA Tech Hosts Defending Champion ODU in Red Out

Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech will don the red uniforms as part of its sixth annual "Red Out" when they play host to the defending C-USA champion Old Dominion on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court.

Free Noble Trees red t-shirts will be given out for free with a limited quality available.  Fans in attendance are encouraged to wear red.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Lyn Rollins and Chris Mycoskie calling the action.  Fans can also listen to Dave Nitz and Jack Thigpen call the game on KXKZ 107.5 FM (Ruston), KOKA 93.3 FM/980 AM (Shreveport) and KJVC 92.7 FM (Mansfield) as well as on the LA Tech Athletics app.

LA Tech (16-5, 7-2 C-USA) moved into a tie for second in the league standings with a 72-59 victory over Charlotte this past Thursday.  The Bulldogs scorched the nets, shooting 56.3 percent from the field and 59.1 percent from three, both marks being the second best of any game this season for the team.

The 'Dogs tied their season-high with 13 made three-pointers as Derric Jean and DaQuan Bracey each sank four from downtown.  Jean ended up with a season-high 16 points and Bracey added 15.

The senior guard duo have been two of the top scorers during league play.  In conference games only, Bracey is averaging 12.9 points while Jean is not far behind averaging 10.8 points.  Both are shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the arc as well.

LA Tech looks to extend its three-game winning streak on Saturday against Old Dominion (9-13, 5-4 C-USA) who currently sits in a three-way tie for fifth, having won three of its last four games including a 68-58 win at Southern Miss this past Thursday.

As usual, ODU puts a strong emphasis on playing strong defense.  In conference play only, they rank second in scoring defense and first in field goal percentage defense.  They are also one of the best rebounding teams in the league, averaging 40.4 boards per game and a +7.7 rebounding margin.

Most of the Monarchs' scoring comes from their trio of starting guards – Xavier Green, A.J. Oliver II and Malik Curry.  All three average double-digit points, led by Green who has started all 22 games and averages 12.1 points per contest.

Aaron Carver is another vital piece to ODU's team as the senior is averaging a league-best 9.6 rebounds per game, a mark which ranks 33rd in the country.

Old Dominion has had the upper-hand in the series, leading 7-2.  The Monarchs have won four straight meetings with the last three coming by a combined six points, ousting the Bulldogs in each of the last two C-USA Tournaments.
