RUSTON, La. – The No. 6 Louisiana Tech women's bowling team defeated Southern, 5-1, in a head-to-head contest on Friday and Saturday at the Lambright Bowling Alley.
Â
"This weekend was a tune-up match for both teams getting ready for the conference tournament next week," head coach
Matt Nantais said. "Overall, we threw the ball pretty well through the two days. This morning, we had a few come out flat which ended up hurting us the first match. Southern bowled great the first match out of the gate today and gave us all we could handle. We bounced back after that to end the weekend with a 5-1 record."
Â
The Lady Techsters won the first three games, 988-861, 964-797, 948-799. Southern took the fourth game, 953-943, but Tech won the last two, 986-918 and 1,034-818.
Â
LA Tech was led by junior
Lindsay Manning with 1,238 total pins. Seniors
Kaitlyn Eder (1,230) and senior
Ashley Channell (1,146), and sophomores
Danielle Jedlicki (959),
Allie Leiendecker (744),
Katelyn Orisek (375) and
Emma Koch (171) rounded out Tech's scoring at the event.
Â
"
Lindsay Manning definitely was solid over the two days as she led the field," Nantais said. "
Kaitlyn Eder was a close second by eight pins. We are looking forward to our conference play next weekend and we're hoping to bring home the championship. It's not going to be an easy task, but I think it is one that we can achieve."
Â
Louisiana Tech will next compete in the Southland Bowling League Championship from March 19-21 at the Colonial Bowling Lanes in Harahan, La.
