SHAWNEE, Okla. – The No. 6 Louisiana Tech women's bowling finished third at the SWIBC III on Saturday in Shawnee, Okla.
The event consisted of four traditional matches and 10 Baker games. LA Tech competed in a field of eight teams consisting of Wichita State, No. 16 Stephen F. Austin, Newman, Barton Community College, West Texas A&M, Oklahoma Christian and UTSA.
"We can sum up today's performance as decently okay," head coach
Matt Nantais said. "We started off slow and it was a format the girls were not used to, so we were a little bit off at the beginning. After that, we bowled well the rest of the day minus some questionable spare shooting at times. But for the day, we averaged 205 as a team and we are gelling at the right time."
Sophomore
Danielle Jedlicki finished first individually through the traditional matches with an average of 231. At one point during the competition, Jedlicki bowled 15 straight strikes. Her performance earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.
Senior
Kaitlyn Eder finished sixth individually with an average of 209.8. Senior
Ashley Channell (203.3, 10th), sophomore
Allie Leiendecker (192.8, 16th), junior
Lindsay Manning (181.3, 31st) and sophomore
Katelyn Orisek (206, 46th) rounded out Tech's scoring in the traditional matches.
Louisiana Tech finished third after the first four traditional matches with a total pin fall of 4,097. The Lady Techsters continued to bowl consistently through the Baker games to maintain the third place finish.
Tech will next compete in six traditional matches on Sunday with the winner being decided by total pins.
"Tomorrow's competition we will come out with a little bit more fire to start than we did today," Nantais said.
