Jan. 7, 1975 – Louisiana Tech Women’s Basketball was born, playing their first ever game in what ended up being a narrow loss to Southeastern Louisiana inside Memorial Gymnasium.
May 11, 1977 – Louisiana Tech issued its first ever women’s tennis scholarship to Valerie Harrison, a state champion at Captain Shreve in Shreveport.
March 10, 1980 – The Louisiana Tech softball program made its inaugural debut in a matchup against Northeast Louisiana (now ULM).
March 29, 1981 – After coming so close to winning a national championship the previous two years, LA Tech closed out a perfect 34-0 season with a 79-59 win over Tennessee to claim the 1981 AIAW championship.
March 28, 1982 – The Lady Techsters marched through the playoffs and captured the first national championship in NCAA history, defeating Cheyney State by a score of 76-62 in the title game.
May 13, 1983 – LA Tech Softball defeated Penn State in an NCAA Atlantic Regional doubleheader to advance to the program’s first ever Women’s College World Series.
Aug. 7, 1984 – Former Louisiana Tech Women’s Basketball stars Janice Lawrence and Kim Mulkey won gold at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the first Olympians ever from LA Tech.
May 23, 1985 – LA Tech Softball returned to Omaha, Nebraska to take part in the 1985 Women’s College World Series.
May 18, 1986 – LA Tech made it back-to-back appearances in the Women’s College World Series after shutting out Florida State for a second time in Ruston at the NCAA South Regional.
Sept. 11, 1987 – The Louisiana Tech Volleyball program made its program debut, participating in the NLU Classic in Monroe.
April 3, 1988 – Despite trailing Auburn by 14 at halftime, LA Tech unloaded in the second half and went on to claim its third national championship in a 56-54 victory.
Nov. 21, 1992 – Only four years removed from a winless season, LA Tech Volleyball claimed its 29th win in a 3-0 victory over New Orleans, a season win total that still stands as the most in program history.
June 5, 1998 – Olivia McKoy became the first female Track and Field All-American as she placed second at the NCAA Championships in the javelin with a throw of 53.92m (176-11)
Sept. 10, 2004 – The Louisiana Tech soccer program made its program debut in a matchup at UL-Lafayette.
Feb. 24, 2005 – The LA Tech women’s track and field team won the 2005 Western Athletic Conference Indoor championship. The program would win 13 of the 14 WAC indoor/outdoor titles from 2005-11.
March 11, 2011 – Commemorative towels were waving in the stands in Las Vegas at the WAC Tournament as the Lady Techsters recorded their 1,000th win in the storied history of LA Tech women’s basketball.?
July 1, 2012 – Track and field’s Chelsea Hayes, a seven-time All-American, smashed her own school and WAC record in the long jump with a leap of 23-3.5 (7.10m) to qualify for the 2012 Olympics.
March 1, 2014 – LA Tech Softball recorded its 1,000th win in program history with its 5-3 victory over Stephen F. Austin in the Arkansas Tournament.
Oct. 2, 2015 – LA Tech Soccer notched program win No. 100 in a 2-1 victory over UAB in Birmingham.
March 22, 2016 – Fresh off a victory over No. 45 Georgia State, the LA Tech Tennis team earned its first national raking in program history coming in at No. 70.
Nov. 22, 2016 – Soccer’s Kathryn Sloan became the first LA Tech student-athlete to be selected Academic All-America of the Year.
April 7, 2021 – The LA Tech Bowling team competed at the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history after receiving an at-large bid as the No. 4 seed.
April 8, 2022 – LA Tech Bowling participated in their second straight National Collegiate Bowling Championship Regional, reaching the regional finals.
