Louisiana Tech vs. Jarvis Christian Preview
LA Tech held off Jackson State in their home opener, winning by a final score of 70-68. Despite going a stretch of 10+ minutes with no made field goals in the second half, the Bulldogs never surrendered their lead and got one final defensive stop to secure their ninth straight home win.
Three Bulldogs scored in double-figures, led by Isaiah Crawford who had a team-high 16 points. Kenneth Lofton, Jr. added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds while Amorie Archibald netted 11 points. As a team, LA Tech is shooting just 40 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc through the first two games. They do have a +3 turnover margin and have racked up 13 steals (10 of those coming against the Tigers).
Jarvis Christian enters with a 1-2 overall record, having defeated University of St. Mary, 62-58, while falling to Texas Wesleyan and Philander Smith College by scores of 76-69 and 76-62, respectively.
Leland Kirkendall came off the bench to score a team-high 24 points in their season opener against Texas Wesleyan. A trio of Bulldogs – Desmond McNiel, McShane Wyatt and Semaj Matthews – combined for 40 of their 62 points in the four-point win against the University of St. Mary.
This is the first ever meeting between LA Tech and Jarvis Christian. It will be the third straight year the Bulldogs face an opponent from the Red River Athletic Conference though as they played Wiley College in 2019-20 and Our Lady of the Lake last season.
