Louisiana Tech vs. ULM Preview
LA Tech takes a three-game winning streak into Wednesday when they host ULM at 6:30 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court. The matchup is part of the Lanky Wells Classic presented by the Dawghouse Sports Grill.
The Bulldogs are coming off their first road win of the season, a convincing 83-64 victory at Northwestern State this past Friday night. The Demons scored the first two points of the game, but the 'Dogs responded with a 15-0 run and had a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Four LA Tech players scored in double figures, led by Kenneth Lofton, Jr. and Amorie Archibald who each tallied a season-high 17 points. Junior also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to notch his second straight double-double of the season and the 11th of his career. Archibald nailed three three-pointers, as did Keaston Willis who recorded 15 points. The Incarnate Word transfer, who made his first career start as a Bulldog, has scored 15+ points in three of the four games.
All three Bulldogs are averaging double-figure points, anchored by Lofton, Jr. who is at 13.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Willis is right behind at 12.8 points and Archibald is at 11.3 points per game. Willis and Archibald have combined to make 18 of the team's 33 three-point attempts.
The opponent, ULM, opened the season losing big to SEC foes LSU and Auburn, but they have won big in their last two games against Champion Christian and Northwestern State. The Warhawks had six players in double figures in the 30-point win over the Demons. They forced 25 turnovers and racked up 15 steals in the blowout.
Eight different Warhawks are averaging at least seven points per game. Leadin the charge are Trey Boston at 13.0 points and Andre Jones at 10.8 points per game.
This will be the 91st meeting all-time between the two programs separated by only 30 miles. LA Tech has won eight straight, the second longest winning streak by either team in the series that dates back to 1953. The Bulldogs are also undefeated against the Warhawks in the TAC with a perfect 15-0 record.
