RUSTON - Louisiana Tech forward Trina Frierson was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Female Player of the Week for her efforts in the Lady Techsters three wins last week.

Frierson led Tech to victories over Arkansas-Little Rock, Southern and Mississippi State while averaging 19.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in the three wins. The senior hit 53 percent (26-49) of her field goal attempts while also recording a pair of assists and five steals.

The Vicksburg, Miss., native scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in an 81-58 win over Arkansas-Little Rock before posting 12 points and four boards in a 78-29 victory against Southern of Baton Rouge. Frierson saved her best performance of the week for Mississippi State as she scored a season-high 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the 94-65 win.

The award is the second of the season for a Lady Techster player as forward Amisha Carter was named the previous week's state player of the week.
