RUSTON - Unfortunately, for the University of Nevada women's basketball team, they ran into the eighth-ranked Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters at a bad time.

A still-angry, determined Lady Techsters (9-2, 2-1) team - only three days removed from an 87-84 overtime loss at Rice - used its emotions and its talents to dismantle Nevada 110-47 Thursday night before 2,975 fans at the Thomas Assembly Center.

"Tonight was about us," said Tech head coach Kurt Budke, who didn't play any starter longer than 23 minutes. "If we come ready to play with the energy and excitement that we had tonight, we will be tough to beat."

Tech placed six players in double figures, shot 52 percent from the field, including 68 percent in the second half, forced 37 turnovers and outrebounded the smaller Wolfpack 44-25. Budke said it was a complete effort on the Lady Techsters part.

"I liked the chemistry of this team tonight," Budke said. "If there is one thing that this team has to improve on its chemistry. I think that is just getting to know each other better; trusting each other and respecting each other. You saw a team on the same page tonight."

Leading only 10-6 at the first officials timeout at the 15:40 mark of the first half, Louisiana Tech then went on a 23-6 run to up the advantage to 33-12 with 7:50 left. The Lady Techsters eventually upped the advantage to 54-21 at the break, thanks in large part to a 32-12 rebounding advantage including 18 offensive boards.

Trina Frierson, coming off her self-proclaimed worst game of her career, responded by scoring 14 of her game-high 20 points in the first half while also hitting eight of eight free throws. Entering the game, the Vicksburg, Miss., native had hit only 50 percent of her free throws in the first 10 games.

"Tonight wasn't about me personally," Frierson said. "It just felt good being out there with my teammates."

The opening 20 minutes wasn't perfect for Tech, but it helped erase the memories of Monday night.

"The Rice game is in the past," said Erica Smith-Taylor. "There isn't anything we can do about it but learn and move on. That's what we did tonight."

Smith-Taylor was one of the catalyst for Tech, scoring 14 points, grabbing eight rebounds, recording six assists and registering five steals in 21 minutes of action. Amisha Carter added 19 points, freshman guard Shan Moore scored a career-high 14 points, while Aarica Ray-Boyd and Amber Obaze each added 12 points.

The 63-point win by Tech was the largest margin of victory since the Lady Techsters downed Centenary 100-34 during the 2000-01 season and the 110 points were the most scored since Tech scored 114 points vs. UL-Lafayette in 1999-00.

Tech returns to action Saturday night at 7 p.m. when its hosts Fresno State.
