RUSTON - Louisiana Tech forward Amisha Carter was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week following her performance in the Lady Techsters 89-79 win over SMU Saturday.

Carter, who has now won the award twice this season, scored a career-high 33 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, recorded a career-high three assists and blocked three shots in 39 minutes of action against the Mustangs.

The Oakland, Calif., hit 10 of 20 field goals and 13 of 16 free throws in the win while scoring 24 of her 33 points in the second half, helping Tech overcome a halftime deficit. Carter's 33 points were the most scored by a Western Athletic Conference player this season and the most by a Techster since Alisa Burras scored 35 against New Orleans Jan. 30, 1997.
