RENO, Nevada - Forward Amisha Carter continued her torrid offensive stretch by scoring a game-high 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead eighth-ranked Louisiana Tech to an 89-57 win over Nevada before 998 at the Lawlor Events Center Saturday afternoon.

Carter, who has now scored 20 or more points in four straight games, hit 9-of-13 field goals and 6-of-11 free throws while adding one blocked shot in only 27 minutes of action.

"Amisha has been playing very well lately, and we knew today, that because Nevada sometimes runs a four-guard lineup, she could have another good day," said Tech head coach Kurt Budke. "Our guards did a good job of finding her, her post teammates did a good job of finding her and she did a good job of finishing."

Senior guard Amber Obaze added 17 points and Trina Frierson scored 15 points as Louisiana Tech (17-2, 10-1 WAC) hit 55 percent (34-62) of its field goals while winning its ninth straight game.

The Techsters shot a blistering 64 percent (21-33) in the first half but the Wolfpack (3-18, 2-9) stayed close thanks to six three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes of play. Tech led 49-35 at the half.

"We might not have done quite as well as we could have defending them in the first half on the perimeter but you have to take your hat off to them," Budke said. "They hit at least three three-pointers from 24- or 25-feet out. It's hard to defend that."

Louisiana Tech turn its focus to the defensive end of the floor in the second half, holding Nevada to only 22 points on 8-of-23 shooting, including only 1-of-10 from downtown.

Nevada, which lost to the Lady Techsters 110-47 on Jan. 8 in Ruston, actually led Tech 17-15 at the 14:03 mark of the first half before the Lady Techsters responded with a 17-3 run over the next five-plus minutes, giving Tech a 32-20 advantage. Nevada would get no closer than six points the rest of the first half while coming no closer than 12 in the second half.

April Bankston and Jocelyn Mancebo led the Wolfpack with 18 points apiece, including five three-pointers by Mancebo.

Tech improved to 7-0 all-time against Nevada.

The Lady Techsters return to action Feb. 12 when they host Hawaii at the Thomas Assembly Center at 7 p.m.
