FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Trina Frierson and Amisha Carter didn't beat Fresno State all by themselves.
It just seemed that way.
Frierson scored 22 points and Carter added 21 as No. 8 Louisiana Tech routed Fresno State 85-52.
Louisiana Tech (16-2, 9-1 Western Athletic) won its eighth consecutive game since an overtime loss at Rice on Jan. 5. Fresno State (7-13, 1-9) dropped its eighth in a row.
Frierson and Carter, bookend 6-foot-1 forwards, combined to shoot 19-of-28 from the field. Guards Amber Obaze and Lakiste Barkus added 10 points apiece for the Lady Techsters.
"We've had games where our guards have carried us, but not tonight," coach Kurt Budke said. "When we have four players score in double figures, we're extremely tough to beat. You don't know whom to guard."
Frierson agreed.
"When I'm hitting my outside shot, it leaves things open for Amisha," she said. "And no one in this league can guard Amisha one-on-one underneath."
Arrita Lane led Fresno State with 11 points before leaving with an ankle injury. Mindy Clark added 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lady Techsters are now 44-2 in WAC play since joining the conference before the 2001-02 season.
Louisiana Tech shot 52.4 percent from the field and 94.7 percent (18-for-19) from the free-throw line. The Lady Techsters finished with 18 steals, including four apiece by Obaze and Erica Smith-Taylor.
Louisiana Tech led 44-22 at halftime, shooting 54.5 percent from the field. The Bulldogs shot just 21.6 percent.
While many players and coaches have complained about the rims at the Save Mart Center, Fresno State's new on-campus arena, Louisiana Tech felt right at home.
"I like the rims here," Frierson said. "At shoot-around we were talking about how good the rims are."
With Frierson shooting well from outside and Carter controlling the middle, the Lady Techsters opened a 10-point lead with 11:48 remaining.
Barkus made it 40-20 with 1:53 left by stealing a backcourt pass and driving for an uncontested layup.
Clark had eight points and 12 rebounds in the first half for Fresno State, which committed 24 turnovers.
