Techsters Jump to No. 6 in AP Poll
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech jumped two spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll following a pair of 30-plus point road Western Athletic Conference wins this past week.
Louisiana Tech (17-2, 10-1), winners of nine straight games, moved from No. 8 to No. 6 this week, the highest the Lady Techsters have been this year. Tech, which has now been ranked in 211 straight AP Polls dating back to the beginning of the 1992-93 season, moved past Stanford and Penn State in this week's rankings.
Tech garnered 863 points followed closely by Texas Tech (862), Penn State (844), Kansas State (835) and Minnesota (798).
The Lady Techsters haven't been ranked higher than No. 6 in the AP Poll since the second week of the 2001-02 season when Tech was No. 5.
Texas replaced Tennessee at No. 1 in the poll followed by Connecticut, Tennessee, Duke and Purdue.
