Reno, Nevada - After leading by only four points at the half, Louisiana Tech opened the second half on a 14-1 run and downed Nevada 69-52 before 370 fans at the Lawlor Events Center.
Junior guard Tasha Crain scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the second half as the Lady Techsters hit 57 percent of their field goals in the final 20 minutes of play.
"For some reason we just seem to be a second half team this year," said Tech head coach Kurt Budke. "If we ever go into the locker room with a bigger lead then four or five points, I'm not sure what I'll do. I was proud of the way the team responded in the second half."
Leading 31-27 at the half, Tech kept Nevada without a field goal for the first 5:50 of the final period. When Nevada's Traci Graham hit a jumper at the 14:10 of the second half, Tech already held a 45-30 lead, an advantage that the Lady Techsters would push out to as many as 22.
Junior guard Aarica Ray-Boyd added 13 points and Shan Moore chipped in with 11 points for Tech, which won its 19th straight regular season WAC game. Sophomore forward Ty Moore had a big game for the Techsters as well, scoring six points, grabbing a career-high nine rebounds in 31 minutes of play.
"I thought Ty Moore had one of her better games of the year," Budke said. "She didn't feel very well and still put up a great effort for us.
"Our entire team is feeling sick so to come out and play with the type of intensity we did, especially in the second half, was impressive."
Nevada was led by Talisha Anderson and April Bankston with 12 points each.
Tech returns to action Saturday when it travels to Fresno to face the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. CST.
