Tech?s Ruffins Named WAC Defensive Player of the Week
RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech senior defensive end Moqut Ruffins was named this week?s Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in the Bulldogs 46-14 win over Hawaii.
Ruffins, who was questionable to play due to an injury, registered two sacks for a loss of 21 yards in the victory and also recovered a fumble early in the first quarter that led to a Tech field goal.
The Atlantic Highlands, N.J., native led a Tech defense that held one of the nations? top offenses to only 280 total yards of offense, nearly 160 yards below Hawaii?s season average coming into the game.
Nevada running back B.J. Mitchell and Utah State punt returner Kevin Robinson were named the Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week.
