RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech held Alcorn State to 24 percent shooting as the Lady Techsters downed the Lady Braves 77-44 at the Thomas Assembly Center Thursday night.

Tech head coach Chris Long used all 11 available players in the game with none of the Lady Techsters starters playing more than 25 minutes.

Entering the game, Long said he was concerned his team wouldn?t come out with the same emotion and intensity it has used to defeat 24th ranked Ole Miss Tuesday night.

?I was pleased with the effort,? Long said. ?We missed some easy shots early but it wasn?t from the lack of effort. I was concerned about a letdown but we came out and took care of business.?

Tech (7-3) opened the game on a 10-0 run and didn?t allow Alcorn State (2-6) to hit its first field goal until the 12:28 mark of the opening half. After the Lady Braves pulled to within 15-10 at the 9:04 mark of the first stanza, Tech closed the half on an 18-5 run and entered the half with a commanding 33-15 lead.

Junior guard Shan Moore sparked the Techsters during the first half, hitting 5-of-8 field goals and 1-of-1 free throws in the opening 20 minutes of play while registering three steals.

?I was pleased to see Shan play well and get some confidence,? Long said. ?She is a good player that I think has started to get on track the last few games. She is another player that can score for us, and that?s important to have another consistent scorer. I think she can be that player for us.?

After hitting only 36 percent (12-34) of its shots in the first half, Tech connected on 55 percent (18-33) in the final 20 minutes of play outscoring Alcorn State 44-29. The Lady Techsters also outrebounded the smaller Lady Braves 52-41 for the game while forcing 21 turnovers.

Moore led Tech with 13 points while Aarica Ray-Boyd and Eboni Mangum each added 12 points. Margaret DeCiman scored a season-high nine points for the Techsters while reigning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year Tasha Williams added four points, nine rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes of play.

Precious Sheats led Alcorn State with 17 points while Natasha Dennis added 10.

Tech returns to action Dec. 29 at Arkansas State.
