RUSTON - Louisiana Tech clinched at least a share of its fourth straight Western Athletic Conference regular season title by defeating Boise State 85-48 before 3,912 fans at the Thomas Assembly Center Saturday night.

Tech (18-6, 14-2 WAC) holds a two-game lead over second place Rice with two road games at Rice and Tulsa remaining.

The win avenged a 62-59 loss to Boise State on Jan. 27 in Idaho.

Shan Moore sparked a huge Techster offensive second half by scoring 15 of her game-high 19 points as Tech outscored Boise State 51-25 in the final 20 minutes of action.

Erica Taylor scored 16 points, Lakiste Barkus 14 points and Tasha Crain 11 points as Tech won for the 102nd straight time in regular season action at the Assembly Center.

"One of our goals at the beginning of the year was to win the regular season league championship," said Tech head coach Kurt Budke. "I'm proud of this no matter what happens; we've at least got a piece of it. We don't want to share it with anyone."

Twelve first half turnovers by Tech helped Boise State (9-17, 4-13) keep the game close with the Lady Techsters holding only a 34-23 halftime advantage.

Boise State held its only lead of the game at 3-2 on a Cassidy Blaine three-pointer at the 19:05 mark of the first half. With Tech leading 17-13 at the 11:37 mark, Crain scored five straight points and Margaret DeCiman added a layup as the advantage jumped to 11 where it remained at the half.

However, 59 percent shooting (16-27) in the second half and a 45-25 rebounding advantage were more then the Broncos could overcome as Tech registered its largest margin of victory for the season.

Boise State hit only 33 percent (18-54) of its field goals and a mere 4-of-22 from the three-point line.

Blaine and Jodi Nakashima led the Broncos with 12 points each.

Tech returns to action March 3 at Rice.
