Tech Travels to UL-Monroe for Tuesday Softball
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will be looking for redemption Tuesday night when the Lady Techsters travel down I-20 to face Louisiana-Monroe in a 6 p.m. contest at Lady Indians Field.
Although the two teams have split the two previous games played this year, UL-Monroe (13-37) downed Tech 4-2 last Tuesday night in Ruston, snapping a four-game losing streak by the Lady Indians.
Tech (18-29) hopes to regain some momentum as the Lady Techsters play four non-conference games this week, including a single game at home against Centenary Wednesday and a home doubleheader against UT-San Antonio Friday.
Head coach Sarah Dawson's squad has lost 12 of its last 14 games, including dropping two of three against Western Athletic Conference foe Nevada this past weekend.
Both Tech and UL-Monroe have lacked consistent offensive production. The Lady Techsters are sporting a .241 team batting average and freshman Regan Clark boasts the team's best individual batting average at only .285.
In six WAC games, Tech has scored only nine runs while batting .233.
UL-Monroe has struggled even more at the plate as the team is batting only .218 for the year. Nichole Bethurum (.301) and Kristin Baker (.277) lead the team in batting but no other Lady Indian is hitting over .240 for the year.
Tech defeated UL-Monroe 3-0 earlier this season in Monroe.
