Louisiana Tech Continues Successful Season at Bayou Bengal InvitationalBoxscoreBATON ROUGE, La. -- Louisiana Tech?s indoor track and field team had another great day in the 2006 season at the Bayou Bengal Invitational at LSU by setting multiple NCAA provisional marks and first place finishes.
?Overall I thought we ran very well,? head coach
Gary Stanley said of his team?s performance. ?We won a lot of the events we were in, and it was as step in the right direction.?
Tech posted good numbers in most of the events participated, starting with the nationally fifth ranked women?s 1600 meter relay team that finished first in their event with a time of 3 minutes, 47.25 seconds.
?We ran a different line up than we normally do,? Stanley said. ?I was very pleased with the way they ran.?
Senior Nolan Jackson also had an impressive showing for Louisiana Tech with a second place finish in the 60m-hurdles with a 7.90 mark in the preliminaries and a 7.86 mark in the finals for a first place finish.
Junior Krystal Cole and freshman Elcharrita Reynolds finished first and second respectively in the women?s 400m with times of 56.54 and 57.22 seconds.
Senior Jason Morgan also had a good day on the bayou with two first place collegiate finishes in the shot put and weight throw. Morgan?s shot put went for 55 ft., 10.5 inches and the weight throw went for 58 ft., 10 inches.
Tech?s track squad will take the week off and prepare for the Tyson Invitational, Stanley noting ?the most prestigious meet in the south.?
?I was pleased with this meet as well as the (Razorback Invitational) last week,? Stanley said. ?We?re extremely excited about Tyson Invitational in two weeks are we get a short break. I think that the stats, as far as looking to conference, are shaping up.?
