SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Yonus Davis rushed for a career-high 199 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, to lead San Jose State to a 44-10 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday at Spartan Stadium.
Two plays after Louisiana Tech (2-6, 1-3 WAC) cut the San Jose State lead to 10-3 on a 35-yard Danny Horwedel field goal, Davis took a handoff and scampered up the middle outracing the Bulldog defenders for the touchdown.
?Obviously, that was a big play,? said Tech head coach Jack Bicknell. ?He?s a good running back and we didn?t make the play. I thought our safeties were in position but he did a good job of making them miss. We had trouble all day trying to stop him.?
San Jose State took a 23-3 lead into the halftime locker room and Louisiana Tech would get no closer the second half.
For the game, the Spartans outrushed Tech 476-41 and outgained the Bulldogs 644 to 222.
Tech?s lone touchdown of the game came on a 1-yard run by freshman William Griffin in the third quarter, his first career scoring run.
Defensively, Tech was led by career-high nights from Quin Harris (12 tackles), Brannon Jackson (11 tackles) and Marquis Spurgon (10 tackles).
Tech returns to action Saturday when the Bulldogs face North Texas in Denton.
