RUSTON ? Dwayne Wright?s 33-yard touchdown run with 0:53 to play in the game capped a record-setting performance and propelled Fresno State to a 34-27 win over Louisiana Tech Friday night before 11,086 fans at Joe Aillet Stadium.

The win was sealed when Tech quarterback Zac Champion threw an interception to Damon Jenkins at the Fresno State 42 with 00:27 to play, Jenkins second pick of the night.

Wright rushed for a Fresno State school record 295 yards on 25 carries, his final carry of the night proving to be the game-winner.

?We battled,? said Tech head coach Jack Bicknell. ?That?s the one thing I can say about our team; nobody has given up. Fresno State is a very good football team, and our guys came out and played them hard.

?Wright is a very good running back. He?s done that all year long. He is a big physical back and we just didn?t make enough plays.?

Wright?s heroics were set up when Louisiana Tech tied the game at 27-27 with just 2:20 to play on a three-yard Patrick Jackson touchdown run set up after a 60-yard Champion completion to Josh Wheeler.

The Bulldogs had an opportunity to take the lead but Danny Horwedel?s extra point hit the left upright and the game remained tied.

Fresno State took the ensuing kickoff and drove 75 yards on five plays in 1:27 with the big play being a 15-yard completion from Tommy Brandstater to Joe Fernandez on third down and 10 immediately prior to Wright?s touchdown scamper.

?This is a tough one to lose,? said sophomore linebacker Quin Harris. ?It?s a little different from how everything else has been going this year. It was a close game between two very good teams. It was a battle all the way to the end.?

After the two teams traded touchdowns early in the second quarter, Jackson put Louisiana Tech ahead on a 100-yard kickoff return, the first by a Bulldog player since Eddie Brown accomplished the feat against UL-Lafayette in 1989.

?After I spun off the guy, I saw there was no one there and I turned it on,? Jackson said. ?We?ve had a hard year, but we talk day in and day out about keeping a positive attitude. We wanted to win this game for the seniors.?

Champion led Tech with 189 yards passing and one score while adding a career-high 77 yards rushing on 13 carries and one score. Jackson set a career-high 277 all-purpose yards for the Tech, including the school record-tying kickoff return.

Mark Dillard and Harris led Tech defensively with nine tackles each.

The Bulldogs play their season finale Saturday, Dec. 2 at New Mexico State.
