Boxscore

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? Crystal Jones? jumper with :03 remaining in the game lifted Eastern Kentucky to an 86-84 win over Louisiana Tech in the first round of the La Quinta Inn Lady Eagle Classic Friday night.

Jones? game-winning play came after the Lady Techsters (1-3) tied the contest on a Ty Moore jumper following a Tamika Kursh missed free throw with :10 left.

After an Eastern Kentucky timeout, Jones drove into the lane and made the shot sending the Lady Colonels into Saturday?s championship game against Southern Miss.

Tech will play Grambling State Saturday at noon in the consolation contest.
Eastern Kentucky (2-2) built a 12-point first half lead at 24-12 before Tech fought back and cut the deficit to 44-38 at the half.

Tech used a 13-0 run early in the second half to grab a 51-46 lead, the biggest of the night for the Lady Techsters. However, EKU answered and retook the lead with 13:06 to play on a Jones jumper and never trailed again.

Moore led Tech with a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds while Eboni Mangum added 14 points and five assists and Shan Moore chipped in with 11 points before fouling out.

Jones led all scorers with 28 points while teammate Ashley Cazee scored 23 and Niki Avery added 12.
