Ruston, La.--Post season awards continue to come in for one of Louisiana Tech's best cross country runners. Zach Schuler, already voted to the 2nd team All-WAC, was recently voted onto the LSWA All-Louisiana Men's Cross Country team. Schuler was one of seven young men from around Louisiana to be voted on, and the only runner from Louisiana Tech.
The entire list of award winners include Maya Aden of Louisiana-Monroe, Richard Bouckaert of Layola, Matt Brophy of Louisiana-Monroe, Matt Cagigal of Layola, Drew Haro of LSU, Shayne Rayners of Southeastern La, and Schuler.
Schuler, a junior from Metarie, La., where he ran at Archbishop Rummel, has really had a positive impact on both sides his team and coach this season. His exceptional running helped guide Tech's cross country team to a great season, including a #3 over all finish at the Auburn Invitational, where Schuler finished 18th, a 4th place finish in the WAC Championships, where he placed 10th, and most recently at the NCAA Regional meet, where his 40th over all finish helped Tech earn a 14th over all placing.
?Zach has continued to work harder and more diligently during his career, especially this season,? Louisiana Tech cross country head coach Gary Stanley said. ?It's really been an inspiration to not only me, but the entire team. He is always learning from his mistakes or bad outings, always improving on those and that's the sign of a winner.?
Schuler, only a junior, will be looked at to help guide Louisiana Tech to another successful cross country season next fall. He will be returning along with three other of Tech's top runners will be returning to run again in 2007.
