Williams Named AP Honorable Mention All-American

RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech senior guard Tasha Williams was named to the 2005-06 Associated Press women?s All-America basketball team which was released Tuesday.

Williams, a first team All-Western Athletic Conference selection this season, earned honorable mention honors on the AP team, along with fellow WAC player Leilani Mitchell of Idaho.

The Kingsland, Ark., native ? who will participate this weekend in the WNBA Combine in Boston ? averaged 12.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.8 steals while leading the Top 25 ranked Lady Techsters to the program?s 25th NCAA Tournament appearance.

The four-year starter ends her Tech career ranking No. 26 in scoring (1,252 points), No. 6 in assists (477), No. 6 in steals (277), No. 2 in free throws made (426), No. 5 in free throws attempted (541) and No. 5 in free throw percentage (.787).
