RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech?s split squad swept all four games Saturday against LSU-Alexandria and Jackson State as the Lady Techsters Red and Blue teams outscored their competition 40-7 in the contests.

Tech?s Red team defeated Jackson State 13-2 and LSU-A 6-1 while the Blue team downed LSU-A 17-3 and Jackson State 4-1.

?We talked about run production over the last couple of outings we had, so it was great to see our potential with the line up split like it was,? said head coach Sarah Dawson. ?We were able to see our strength across the board. Our run production showed the power that we have as well."

Thirteen runs off 10 hits was more than enough to give the Lady Techsters? Red team a 13-2 victory over Jackson State in game two of a Saturday competition at the Lady Techsters Softball Complex.

The Red team jumped to an early lead in the second inning when freshman infielder Mandy Granger walked and sophomore outfielder Elizabeth Franklin reached on an error. Sophomore outfielder Sarah Offutt then picked up two RBIs with a single to left field.

The Techsters added four more runs in the inning after junior outfielder Lyndsey McIlwain singled to center, followed by sophomore infielder Amberly Waits? walk. Freshman infielder Heather Doiron picked up two RBIs with a line shot to center. Senior catcher Regan Clark followed with a double, and Mandy Granger singled to pick up the RBI.

The Red team rallied again in the fifth when Mandy Granger and Franklin both reached on errors. Offutt?s single up the middle brought Granger around, and a sacrifice fly by freshman infielder Claire Gibson scored Offutt. McIlwain contributed with a double to left center, and Waits added to the damage when she launched a two-run homer over the right field fence.

Freshman pitcher Jordan Simmons picked up the win, allowing only two hits and striking out three in three innings of play. Sophomore Mandi Bertsch completed the final three innings with four strikeouts.

In game one, the Red team cranked out six runs off nine hits in a 6-1 victory over LSU-A. After allowing one run in the bottom of the first, the Techsters quickly answered back. A double by McIlwain scored Franklin and was followed by Waits? RBI triple. A single by Doiron scored Waits, and a double by Clark scored Doiron and junior infielder Kylie Bassett who reached on a walk.

RBI singles by both Clark and Franklin drove in the final two runs. Bertsch picked up the win, allowing only two hits and one run in four innings of play. Simmons completed the game with one walk and one hit, while striking out three.

?With everyone contributing and participating, I think our confidence will continue to show,? Dawson said. ?Our pitching was solid again. We had a few bumps here and there, but we responded well when we did get down.?

Game one for the Blue team proved to be a slugfest, as the Techsters belted out 17 runs off 14 hits in a 17-3 victory over LSU-A. The game was called after the fourth due to the run rule.

LSU-A scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the first inning with two walks, two singles and a triple, but the Techsters quickly answered back in the bottom of the first.

The Blue team jumped on the board with consecutive singles by junior outfielder Danielle Sheridan and sophomore infielder Summer Young. Three straight walks tied the game 2-2 heading into the second.

A leadoff double by freshman pitcher/outfielder Meghan Krieg in the second also led to a scoring rally. After junior outfielder Emma Barnes reached on an error, Sheridan picked up the two RBIs with a double to right center field. Sandberg?s walk was followed by a double by Oliver, who advanced to third on an error and picked up the RBI.

Megan Granger reached on an error, picking up an RBI. Freshman infielder Mandy Granger was then issued a walk and brought home on a double by Krieg. Consecutive doubles by Barnes and Sheridan added one more run before the end of the inning.

The Techsters picked up six more runs in the third. Sophomore catcher Jessica Kirby picked up two RBIs after she launched a home run over the left field fence. Barnes? right field single brought in Mandy Granger and Krieg, while Sheridan and Young both contributed one RBI each registering singles.

Krieg earned the win after allowing three runs on three walks and three hits and striking out five in three innings of play. Freshman pitcher Wanda Malone picked up two strikeouts in one inning of play.

The Blue team also came out victoriously in their second game of the day when they beat Jackson State 4-1. Barnes, Young, Megan Granger, Kirby and Krieg each contributed one hit.

Oliver allowed only one run on five hits and issued one walk, while striking out eight in six innings of play.
