RUSTON ? Shan Moore and Amber Metoyer registered double doubles to lead Louisiana Tech to a 69-53 win over New Mexico State Wednesday night before 647 fans at the Pan American Center.

Moore scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds while Metoyer added 12 points and 10 boards as Tech (14-11, 9-3 WAC) defeated the Aggies (10-14, 5-7) for the fifth straight time in the series.

Tech held New Mexico State to only 29 percent (17-59) shooting and outrebounded the Aggies 50-43 while limiting NMSU?s top two scorers Sherell Neal and Anikia Jawara to only 8-of-30 shooting.

?I thought defensively we forced them to beat us over the top,? said Tech head coach Chris Long. ?For the most part, we forced them to take outside shots and tough shots. They didn?t get too many easy looks against us tonight.?

Tech held a slim 20-17 lead with 8:32 to play after a jumper by Neal before using 15-6 run to close the first half and enter the halftime locker room leading 35-23. The Lady Techsters hit their first two shots of the second half and never let the Aggies get any closer than 11 points while building as much as a 59-34 advantage.

Offensively, Tech found balance while hitting 39 percent (28-72) of its field goals and 58 percent (7-12) of its three-point attempts.

In addition to Moore and Metoyer?s big nights, sophomore guard Eboni Mangum hit 6-of-8 shots to add 14 points while Ty Moore added eight points and 10 rebounds. Jo Sneed scored eight points and Shanavia Dowdell added six points in the victory.

?It thought both of our post players off the bench really provided a spark for us,? Long said. ?Jo looks healthy again (after being sick all last week) and Shanavia continues to get better and better.?

Neal led the Aggies with 12 points and 12 rebounds, although she hit only 4-of-15 field goals while Jawara added 11 points and 11 rebounds and Monique Bribiescas scored 10 points.

Tech returns to action Saturday night when it hosts Idaho at 7 p.m.
