Moore, Levingston Save Day for Techsters

RUSTON ? Shan Moore and Nastassja Levingston saved the day for Louisiana Tech Thursday night at the Thomas Assembly Center.
In a game where Tech (13-10, 8-2 WAC) hit only 7-of-42 shots to begin the contest, Moore and Levingston came up big down the stretch in leading the Lady Techsters to a 71-61 11th hour win over San Jose State (3-22, 2-9).
The duo combined to score every point in a decisive 17-3 run that saw Tech go from trailing 44-41 with 8:17 to play to leading 58-47 with 4:22 left in the game. San Jose State would get no closer than seven the rest of the way.
?Both of them were a spark for us,? Long said. ?We ran some plays to get (Levingston) some looks, and it paid off for us. Shan stepped up big like she has over the last few games and we needed her to.?
For the second game in a row, Moore set a career-high this time scorching the nets for 31 points on 9-of-19 shooting, including 3-of-6 from the three-point line and 10-of-13 from the free throw line. She added eight rebounds, five steals and four assists in 33 minutes.
Levingston tied her career-high with 13 points. After starting the game 1-for-7, she hit 4-of-her-last-5 field goals, including a trio of three-pointers in the game-deciding run.
Tech hit only 6-of-32 field goals in a first half that saw the Lady Techsters tied with the Spartans at 21-21 heading into the locker room. Long?s team opened the second half hitting only 1-of-10 shots and trailed by as many as six points at 32-26.
Tech hit 15 of its last 25 field goals to finish the game at 33 percent. The Techsters did hit 21-of-25 field goals and 6-of-19 three-pointers.
?We were fortunate to win and shoot as poorly as we did,? Long said. ?We missed shots early and it affected us in every aspect of the game. It was as if the basket had a lid on it.?
Ty Moore added 10 points and six rebounds for Tech which won its fifth straight game of the year.
Brittany Powell scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for San Jose State while Lynette Jacobs added 14 points and Myosha Barnes scored 12.
Tech returns to action Saturday when it hosts Hawaii at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
