MONROE, La. -- The Louisiana Tech cross country team will return to action Saturday, Sept. 22, at Chenault Park in Monroe, La., at 8:30 a.m. for an invitational hosted by UL-Monroe.
?This week is the first five-mile race of the season for our guys,? Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. ?We have quite a few freshmen on our squad who are mainly used to running three-mile tracks in high school, so I?m looking forward to continued improvement. I?m very excited about this very young team.?
The Bulldogs will run a team of two juniors in Cory Denstel and Jace Benoit along with four freshmen in Stephen Mire, Kyle Davis, Steven Cortez and David Monroe.
Last weekend at the 2007 Mook 4, Benoit led Tech finishers to three dualing wins over ULM, UL-Lafayette and Northwestern State by finishing the challenging four-mile course at Lincoln Parish Park in a time of 21 minutes, 19 seconds.
On the Lady Techsters side, Lauren Gilbert completed the four-kilometer course in a time of 16 minutes, 52 seconds.
