FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Louisiana Tech's indoor track and field team will compete in its final regular season meet of the 2008 Indoor Track and Field campaign at the 2008 Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas.
"The Tyson Meet is one of the premier meets in the United States," Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "We're very fortunate to be racing here. It's the site of national champ and, it's a great facility. It's certainly an honor for us to be competing in this event."
Stanley added the importance of running at the Randal Tyson Track Center because of the banked tracks, which is similar to the type of track Tech will compete on at the conference championship in two weeks.
"It's important because we have banked boards to run on," Stanley said. "It helps give us a list of who we want to put in what event at the conference meet, so it's very important in that regard."
Two weeks ago, senior thrower Nadia Alexander finished with an NCAA Provisional Mark and a collegiate first place finish in the women's shot after a hurl of 52 feet, 00.25 inches, while senior Matt Craig took a second place finish in the long jump at 23-5.75.
Sophomore Mike Coleman took a third place finish in the men's 200 with a time of 21.62 seconds, while the team of Coleman, sophomores Al Fullwood and Wade MaGaha along with freshman Marcelles Atkinson clocked a solid time of 3:16.32.
Senior Kinsey Dinnel took a fifth place finish in the mile-run invitational with a 4:14.6 -performance, while junior El Charrita Reynolds ran the top time in the women's 400-meter at 56.07 in the preliminaries.
Freshman Chasidee Lewis-Baker also ran a 7.50 in the women's 60, which barely missed an NCAA Provisional Mark but earned her a WAC Athlete of the Week honor.
Tech will compete at the 2008 WAC Indoor Championships Mar. 1 in Boise, Idaho.
