LORMAN, Miss. - Louisiana Tech travels to Lorman, Miss., Wednesday to face Alcorn State in a non-conference softball doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
Tech (6-6) leads the all-time series against Alcorn State (6-10) having won all six of the previous meetings including defeating the Lady Braves four times last year.
The Lady Techsters enter the doubleheader after splitting a pair of weekend games against Southeastern Louisiana Saturday while the Lady Braves fell five times last weekend at the Clarion Inn Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville.
Tech is led offensively by sophomore shortstop Amberly Waits, who ranks among the Western Athletic Conference leaders in batting average (.400), RBI (11) and stolen bases (4). Waits leads Louisiana Tech with five multi-hit games this season.
Senior catcher Regan Clark has also been consistent at the plate for Louisiana Tech this year, registering a .297 batting average with six RBI. Clark has recorded at least one hit in nine of Tech's 12 games.
Sophomore Mandi Bertsch (3-1, 1.42 ERA), freshman Meghan Krieg (1-0, 3.09), junior Krissi Oliver (1-3, 3.36) and freshman Jordan Simmons (1-2, 4.96) have all shared the bulk of the pitching responsibilities for Tech this year.
