RUSTON - Louisiana Tech junior Krissi Oliver was named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 2-9.
Oliver, a Glendale, Arizona native, earned the award after registering a 2-1 mark for the week with a 1.05 earned run average. The junior worked 20.0 innings in the circle during the week, allowing 19 hits, two walks and only three earned runs while striking out 10.
She pitched a complete-game two-hitter in a 1-0 win over Northwestern State in her first start of the week. Oliver followed that up with an 8-2 win over Charleston Southern where she allowed only one earned run on seven hits while striking out five.
Oliver ended the week by losing to 18th ranked Mississippi State 5-2, although she surrendered only two earned runs in 6.0 innings of work.
The award is the first of the year for Oliver and for any Techster hurler. Oliver was also nominated for the WAC Hitter of the Week award after recording a .357 average with two doubles, one home run, and six RBI on the week.
