RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech heads south this weekend to compete in the 23rd annual Louisiana Classic hosted by the 19th ranked Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.
The Lady Techsters are fresh off a season-opening 4-0 win over Northwestern State on Wednesday and begin tournament play when they face McNeese State Friday at 3 p.m.
Tech's Saturday schedule includes games against Lipscomb at 9 a.m. and the host Ragin Cajuns at 11:30 a.m., in a game that will be televised in the Lafayette area on MY KLAF-TV with Chris Mycoskie and Dan McDonald providing the play by play and color commentary.
The Lady Techsters will then wrap up tournament action Sunday with a single game against Nicholls State at 3 p.m.
Tech head coach Sarah Dawson said that the weekend would provide a great opportunity to utilize her depth.
"It gives us a wide variety of competition," Dawson said. "We are pretty familiar with three of the teams we will face but Lipscomb is a team out of our region. When you play multiple games in a short period of time, it gives us a chance to play some of our younger kids. Our upper classmen are pretty well established so this should be a good weekend for us to play a lot of folks."
