RUSTON -- Amanda Parsonage hit a three-run home run to ignite an offensive outburst as Louisiana Tech downed San Jose State 10-1 in five innings in Western Athletic Conference action Friday at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Parsonage launched her first career home run over the right centerfield fence with two outs in the bottom of the second inning to give the Lady Techsters a 3-0 lead. All three runs were unearned as an error by Spartan shortstop Morgan Otto on a ground ball by Kylie Bassett to begin the inning and kept it alive.

Tech added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning as Emma Barnes led the frame off with a single and then moved to second on a walk by Danielle Sheridan. Amberly Waits then singled back to the pitcher to load the bases. One out later, Jessica Kirby drew an RBI walk to make the score 4-0.

Claire Gibson then followed with a ground ball to the shortstop that was bobbled, allowing all runners to advance and Sheridan to score to make the score 5-0. Krissi Oliver then flew out to centerfield, driving home Waits for the third run of the inning.

With Tech leading 6-0, the Lady Techsters added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

After another leadoff single by Barnes, Sheridan drilled the first pitch she saw from Spartan starter Deanna Mauer over the centerfield fence for her second home run of the season to give Tech an 8-0 lead.

One out later, Kylie Bassett drilled a pitch over the left field fence for her eighth home run of the season and a 9-0 advantage. Tech would add one more run on another sacrifice fly by Oliver, scoring Kirby from third base for the final run of the game for the Lady Techsters.

Techster starter Meghan Krieg took a no-hitter into the top of the fifth inning before Nicole Wells singled on a line drive that Tech second baseman Heather Doiron got a glove on but couldn't hold.

With two outs, Kayla Hayes singled to left field plating Wells but Sheridan threw out Otto at home to end the game.

Krieg (16-4) picked up the win, allowing one earned run on two hits and four walks while striking out six in the complete-game performance.

Barnes and Sheridan led Tech's nine-hit attack with two each.

The two teams play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. that can be seen on www.latechtv.com.
