FRESNO -- The honors for Louisiana Tech junior shortstop Amberly Waits continue to pile up as she was named to the Western Athletic Conference all-tournament team Saturday following the completion of the event which was won by Fresno State.
Waits was one of 11 players named to the all-tournament team and rightfully so, after posting tournament highs in hits (9), RBI (4), total bases (14) and home runs (1).
During LA Tech's four games, Waits batted .692 with nine hits in 13 at bats with two doubles, one home run, 14 total bases, two runs and four RBI. She recorded a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage -- both tournament bests.
Waits, who was named the 2009 WAC Player of the Year, ended her season with program single season records in hits (81), batting average (.488), home runs (17), RBI (62), total bases (155), and slugging percentage (.934).
