Louisiana Tech Head Coach Sonny Dykes
"It was a tough game today, a disappointing loss. We did not play well on either side of the ball. I'm really surprised that we had a chance to win as poorly as we played. Really inopportune would be the best way to describe what we did."
On the blocked punt:
"I'm extremely disappointed that we gave that up. We've done a good job of punting this season and we didn't do that tonight. I thought we had made more progress than we did. For us to play the way we did this late into the season is real disappointing."
On going three-and-out:
"We probably had the most three-and-outs that we've had all year. We just couldn't get anything going and had a hard time playing the football. The thing about good football teams is at 3rd and 2, it doesn't matter what play you call. It just seemed like today was a struggle for us."
On the emotions and the end of the game:
"That's why you have to play the last play like it's the first play. Every play is critical."
On Fresno State's success on the ground:
"We gave up a lot of big plays at the end. We knew they were going to run the football, they're good at running, that's what they do."
Senior Wide Receiver Phillip Livas
On his kick return touchdown:
"Coming into the game coach put a lot of pressure on me saying I needed to make a play on special teams, so just to get that one off my back was good. I had a lot of confidence that eventually I would get one because they kept kicking it to me a lot.
On the offense:
"I didn't know what happened. We've just got to make the plays."
On the loss:
"It was a big game. We knew we had to win three of four games to be bowl eligible. We've just got to stay focused and finish the last three games."
Junior Wide Receiver Taulib Ikharo
On the team after going up 14-0:
"I could tell the team started to get a little lackadaisical and we didn't have the same fire. The players just kind of got content with how we were playing. Coach brought us together (at the half) and said we had to focus more on the game because we had to play 60 minutes to beat a good team."
On the loss:
"We know we're better than what we did today. In the locker room everyone was talking about how if we would've done this and that. "
On bowl eligibility:
"Going to a bowl was our ultimate goal coming into the season. We're still focused and everybody is still going to come out fighting."
Junior Linebacker Jay Dudley
On Phillip Livas' kickoff return:
"It was a real good feeling once he scored it. The defense knew what time it was and knew we had to go out there and make a good play. We went out there to try and get a three-and-out and that's what we did."
On giving up over 300 rushing yards:
"It hurts because I'm a linebacker and I'm supposed to stop the run. So I put everything on the linebacking crew."
Fresno State head coach Pat Hill
Thoughts on Game:
"My initial thought is it's a win. This is a tough road trip. I thought we were heavy legged in first half. We came out with great energy in the second half. We did what we had to do to win the game. We dominated in special teams, we just played very well. Defensively, I thought we played very, very well. God I thought we played well. Offensively, we played really well. We were almost 50 percent on third down conversions which is a real improvement there. We were balanced."
On if the bye week helped his team:
"I don't think that had much to do with it. We had a lot of yards but not nearly as many points to match those yards. We made some really big plays tonight. Robbie's 60-yard run. The fade to Hamler. They made some big plays early; the reverse throw back to the quarterback. We stopped a drive at the end with us jumping offside. We did some things to tonight; we still have not played a whole game. We have had some great spurts but still haven't played a complete game. However, we are going into November with complete control of our destiny."
On the run game:
"I just think Robbie (Rouse) has been healthy now for five weeks. He is really getting into a groove. Our offensive line only had one senior on it tonight, and I was happy with their effort. They didn't miss a beat. Rouse has had so many reps in practice. He carried it a lot of times tonight."
On controlling the line:
"They are a good defensive front. This is a good defensive football team. We gave up 14 points early but then our defense put on the clamps for most of the night."
