Louisiana Tech Places Five on All-WAC Football Teams

Dec. 6, 2010

DENVER - Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Rob McGill and kick returner Phillip Livas were named first team all-Western Athletic Conference, two of the five Tech players that were honored by the league office Monday. Tech has placed at least five players on the all-WAC team nine out of the last 10 years.

Running back Lennon Creer, defensive lineman Matt Broha and linebacker Adrien Cole were named second team all-WAC. The all conference teams are selected by a vote of the league's coaches with no coach allowed to vote for any of his own players.

McGill earns first team honors for the first time in his career after being named to the second team the past two years. He becomes only the second offensive lineman in school history to receive all-conference honors on three separate occasions with Tommy Hinton earning all-Gulf States Conference accolades from 1955-57. McGill started 11 games for the Bulldogs, paving the way for Tech's running game to record 2,051 yards on the season, the 10th most in school history.

Livas garnered first team all-WAC honors as a kick returner after tying the NCAA record on Nov. 27 as he recorded his eighth career return for a touchdown. Livas' 862 kickoff return yards this year ranks second in school history and the Houma, La. native finished his career with 2,758 kick return yards, just 24 yards shy of the all-time WAC record.

Creer garnered second team honors after rushing for 1,181 yards in 2010, a mark that ranks seventh in school history. He ran for over 100 yards in five different games and his 252 yards recorded at San Jose State is the sixth best rushing mark in school history.

Broha finished the year fifth in Tech history with nine sacks and his 14.5 career sacks ranks third in school history. The junior returns next season after leading the team with 14 tackles for a loss of 75 yards in 2010 while also forcing two fumbles.

Despite only playing in 10 games this year due to injuries, Cole still registered 80 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for a loss to garner second team honors. This marks the second consecutive season that the Mobile, Ala. native has earned all-WAC honors after being named to the all-WAC first team last season.

This marked the fourth consecutive year that the Bulldogs have had at least five players named all-WAC and the ninth time out of the last 10 years. Tech finished the 2010 campaign with a record of 5-7 (4-4 WAC) and recorded a .500 mark in conference play for the third time in four years.

Louisiana Tech also set an attendance record in 2010 as 116,908 Bulldog fans went through the gates at Joe Aillet Stadium, more than any other season in school history.
