LOGAN - Louisiana Tech starts the second half of its Western Athletic Conference season Saturday afternoon when the Lady Techsters face Utah State at 4 p.m. CST at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Tech (14-6, 5-3 WAC) currently sits in third place in the WAC standings, three full games behind league leader Fresno State and one game behind second place Nevada.

The Lady Techsters will look to avenge a 69-66 loss against Utah State back on Jan. 6 in Ruston in a game that LA Tech led by six with just under five minutes to play before Utah State capitalized on a 10-0 run down the stretch for the win.

In that game, Shanavia Dowdell and Adrienne Johnson outscored the Aggies starting post players 33-0 but the Utah State guards combined for 64 of the team's 69 points.

Dowdell continues to lead the WAC in scoring (17.9) and rebounding (12.2) and has recorded double doubles in seven of the eight league games. The Calera, Alabama native needs only 103 more rebounds this season to become the WAC's all-time leading rebounder, passing former Fresno State forward Omelogo Udeze.

Johnson came out of a mini-slump in Tech's 75-53 win over Boise State on Wednesday, recording her fourth double of the year with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Guards Whitney Jones, Tarkeisha Wysinger, and Jasmine Bendolph each recorded double digit scoring performances with 10 each in the win.

Utah State (11-10, 3-5 WAC) has struggled after starting the WAC season with two straight wins as the Aggies have lost five of their last six games. Its lone win over that stretch was a 57-55 road victory at Idaho, a team that has played much better recently.

Guard Amber White is Utah State's top scorer, averaging 11.5 points per game. White was instrumental in the win over LA Tech with a game-high 18 points.

The Aggies are one of the WAC's top defensive teams, holding opponents to only 58.1 points per game and 38 percent shooting.

Tech leads the all-time series against the Aggies 8-1, including a 4-0 mark in Logan. Tech defeated Utah State 90-83 in overtime last year in Logan.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM and KBYO 92.7 FM with the pregame show beginning at 3:30 p.m.
